Do you truly want to write books? That is the question. The answer seems obvious, but you need to go in depth to actually answer it.
If you can imagine yourself writing while making a small salary with no fanfare, do it. This means that you will keep writing even when you are stuck in a small apartment and have little in the bank … for years.
Many people when they choose a career, they don’t want the negatives. Fame is great. Money is even better. However, those things aren’t what define what you truly want to do with yourself and what will make you ultimately happy. So, if you have that desire to write and write without remorse, have fun with it and keep going. If you can’t, it is not the end of the world. You might have skills and tools for another similar career. You may have a calling to use your writing in a way that fits your life. After all, it is wonderful to be a successful author, but being happy the rest of your life trumps that easily.
